About The Back Room
We exist to free our clients' time so they can focus on what they do best — growing their business. We deliver smart, efficient solutions that liberate teams from the everyday admin, and we hold ourselves to the same standard. Time is the ultimate currency, and we treat it like it.
About the Role
You'll join a US team to support pooling operations across our US-based client portfolio. This role is hands-on with transaction processing, reconciliations, and maintaining clear financial records that keep pooling arrangements running smoothly.
What You'll Do
Process day-to-day financial transactions for pooling accounts including receipts, disbursements, journals, and bank transactions
Reconcile bank statements, clearing accounts, and intercompany or pool balance movements on a regular basis
Maintain the general ledger for pooling entities, ensuring entries are complete, properly coded, and supported with documentation
Support month-end close activities: prepare reconciliations, accruals, and standard month-end schedules for pooling accounts
Prepare and review periodic reports related to pooling activity and provide explanations for variances
Coordinate with client services, treasury, and external vendors to resolve discrepancies and ensure cash movements are recorded correctly
Maintain organised digital filing for all pooling documentation to support audits and quarterly reviews
Assist with process improvements and standardisation of pooling procedures, checklists, and templates to reduce manual effort and increase accuracy
What We're Looking For
2–3 years' bookkeeping or accounting experience, ideally with exposure to cash pooling, treasury, or multi-entity bookkeeping
Strong working knowledge of US accounting standards and experience working with USD accounts
Hands-on experience with accounting software (QuickBooks, Xero, NetSuite or similar) and comfortable with spreadsheets (advanced Excel skills)
Proven ability to perform timely reconciliations and to investigate and resolve discrepancies
High level of accuracy and attention to detail, with a structured approach to documentation and record-keeping
Good communicator who can collaborate with internal teams and external partners, and escalate issues when needed
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and able to prioritise multiple tasks to meet deadlines
Nice to Have
Experience supporting pooled cash arrangements, notional or physical pooling structures
Familiarity with bank portals and payment processing workflows for US banks
Experience with accounting automation tools or workflow platforms (e.g., Bill.com, Dext, or similar)
Basic understanding of treasury operations and cash forecasting
Why This Role
This is a practical, impactful bookkeeping role within a growing finance function. You'll own the accuracy of pooling records, contribute to clearer cash visibility for clients, and help shape efficient processes that scale. If you enjoy tidy reconciliations, logical problem-solving, and working cross-functionally to keep cash movements clean, you'll make a visible difference here.
