US Senior Accountant
Real accounts, real ownership, real clients. This is a strong step-up role for an accountant who's ready to work at senior level — and prove it.
We usually respond within three days
About The Back Room
We exist to free our clients' time so they can focus on what they do best — growing their business. We deliver smart, efficient solutions that liberate teams from the everyday admin, and we hold ourselves to the same standard. Time is the ultimate currency, and we treat it like it.
About the Client
Our client is a U.S.-based accounting and advisory firm growing their offshore team to support a portfolio of American businesses. This role exists to extend their senior accounting capacity — handling the full scope of month-end close, financial reporting, and day-to-day client communication with a high degree of independence.
The Role
This is a genuine senior seat — not a title bump, but not an unreachable bar either. You'll manage accounting for 15+ U.S. clients, run month-end close end-to-end, and own client inboxes, resolving around 80% of queries on your own. If you've been doing solid accounting work for a couple of years and you're ready to take on more ownership, this is the role that gets you there.
What You'll Do
Own day-to-day accounting for a portfolio of 15+ U.S. clients — accuracy, GAAP compliance, and clean GLs throughout
Manage client inboxes: triage, respond, and resolve ~80% autonomously; escalate the rest with context and a clear recommendation
Run full-cycle accounting — AP/AR, payroll journal posting, journal entries, and reconciliations
Lead month-end close end-to-end: recons, accruals, AJEs, self-review, and variance explanations
Prepare and review monthly and quarterly financials — P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, and management reports
Apply revenue recognition and accrual principles in line with GAAP
Identify workflow gaps and drive process improvements through standardised checklists and documentation
Work primarily in QBO and/or Xero; Canopy familiarity is a plus
What We're Looking For
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
2–3+ years of accounting experience; client-facing CAS or public accounting background preferred
Solid understanding of accrual accounting and GAAP; comfortable owning month-end close with some supervision early on
Excellent written English — you write client emails that are clear, structured, and professional
Good self-review habits: you check your own work before it goes out
Proficiency in QBO and/or Xero
Reliable follow-through and the confidence to ask a clarifying question when you need to2–5 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience; client-facing or public accounting background strongly preferred
Full U.S. business hours availability (overlap with U.S. time zones required)
Nice to HaveCPA (Philippine or U.S.) or currently pursuing
Experience with payroll posting, multi-currency, or intercompany transactions
Familiarity with Canopy practice management software
Why This Role
Not everyone gets handed real ownership early. This role does — 15+ clients, a full close cycle, and direct client communication from day one. If you're an accountant who's ready to operate at senior level and wants the environment to grow into it, this is worth your time.
This role is open to Philippine citizens currently based in the Philippines.
