About The Back Room
We exist to free our clients' time so they can focus on what they do best — growing their business. We deliver smart, efficient solutions that liberate teams from the everyday admin, and we hold ourselves to the same standard. Time is the ultimate currency, and we treat it like it.
About the Client
Our client is a public accounting and tax firm based in Roswell, Georgia, growing their offshore team to support their tax preparation and compliance function. This role exists to handle a high volume of moderate to complex US tax returns — freeing up their senior team to focus on advisory and client relationships.
The Role
This is a hands-on tax preparation role for someone who knows their way around individual, corporate and business returns and wants to do that work well, consistently, and at volume. You'll be working across a mix of entity types, supporting IRS notice responses, and contributing to income tax planning — all while staying close to a team that genuinely cares about quality. Success in the first 12 months looks like reliable, accurate output with minimal review cycles and growing confidence on more complex files.
What You'll Do
Prepare moderate to complex corporate, business and individual income tax returns
Support income tax projections and tax planning work
Analyze IRS notices and draft written responses
Perform income tax research across a range of client scenarios
Handle accounting functions including journal entries, account analysis, fixed asset and depreciation oversight, and trial balance preparation in support of return filing
Interact with clients as part of the service team — professionally and attentively
Prepare payroll, sales tax, and property tax returns as needed
What We're Looking For
Bachelor's degree in Accounting; Master's in Taxation or Professional Accounting is a plus
5+ years of experience in a public accounting or tax firm environment
Solid working knowledge of corporate and individual US tax compliance
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Experience with CCH ProSystem fx or similar tax software
CPA or CPA-eligible preferred — strong non-CPA candidates with equivalent experience will be considered
Nice to HaveExperience with QuickBooks or other accounting software
Exposure to multi-state tax filings or complex pass-through entities
Master's degree in Taxation or Professional Accounting
