About the Department
The Human Resources Department plays a critical role in shaping the employee experience at The Back Room. From onboarding and employee relations to performance management and compliance, the team works closely with employees and leaders to foster a positive, supportive, and high-performing workplace culture. This role exists within the Employee Relations Division to ensure employees receive timely guidance, support, and advocacy throughout their employment journey while helping maintain compliance, engagement, and operational excellence across the organization.
The Role
As an Employee Relations Associate, you'll serve as a primary point of contact for employees, providing support across onboarding, employee relations, performance management, payroll coordination, and HR administration. You'll work closely with employees, managers, and internal departments to ensure concerns are addressed, processes are followed, and employees receive a positive and supportive experience throughout their employment lifecycle. Success in this role comes from building strong relationships, maintaining confidentiality, and delivering responsive and people-centered HR support.
What You'll Do
Support employee pre-boarding, onboarding, and offboarding processes
Serve as the primary HR point of contact for employee inquiries, concerns, and support requests
Monitor and coordinate Hybrid & Remote Work Requests, employee travel requests, triage processes, and client transfer activities
Assist with performance management activities, including performance review tracking and salary discussion coordination
Support payroll and benefits administration by monitoring attendance, leave requests, overtime approvals, and related concerns
Ensure compliance with company policies, employment agreements, and workplace procedures
Conduct regular employee check-ins to support employee well-being, engagement, and performance
Collaborate with departments such as Account Management, IT, Admin, Enablement, Finance, and Payroll to address employee needs
Review payroll-related billing requests and ensure proper approvals and documentation are in place
Prepare HR reports, statistics, and observations to support decision-making and process improvements
Participate in client onboarding activities and employee catch-up meetings as required
Maintain strict confidentiality of employee records and sensitive information at all times
What We're Looking For
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Psychology, Business Administration, or a related field
Previous experience in Human Resources, Employee Relations, HR Operations, or a similar people-focused role
Strong understanding of employee lifecycle processes and HR best practices
Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills
Strong verbal and written communication abilities
High level of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality
Strong organizational and time management skills
Ability to handle sensitive employee matters with fairness and sound judgment
Experience working with HRIS, payroll systems, or employee management platforms
Ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments and stakeholders
Nice to Have
Exposure to employee relations, labor relations, or performance management processes
Experience in the BPO, offshoring, or professional services industry
Familiarity with payroll administration and attendance management systems
Experience preparing reports and workforce analytics
