Our client is a well-established Chartered Accounting and Advisory firm in New Zealand that is growing its existing offshore team. They work with a diverse portfolio of businesses, providing high-quality accounting, taxation, and business advisory services. The Role
We're looking for an Intermediate Accountant to support the firm's accounting and compliance services for New Zealand clients. In this role, you'll prepare financial statements, tax returns, GST returns, and perform a variety of bookkeeping tasks while working closely with Senior Accountants, Managers, and Directors. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with New Zealand accounting experience who enjoys delivering accurate work in a collaborative team environment.
What You'll Do
Perform day-to-day bookkeeping, including bank reconciliations, fixed asset management, and Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable processing
Maintain accurate client records and follow up on outstanding information required to complete financial accounts
Prepare dividend documentation and Resident Withholding Tax (RWT) returns
Prepare and lodge New Zealand GST returns
Prepare Financial Statements, Annual Reports, Resolutions, and Taxation Summaries for review
Prepare Individual, Trust, Partnership, and Company income tax returns
Support Senior Accountants, Managers, and Directors with accounting and compliance work
Ensure work is completed accurately and within agreed deadlines
Collaborate with team members to deliver exceptional service to clients
What We're Looking For
Tertiary qualification in Accounting or a related discipline
At least 2 years of experience working in a New Zealand accounting firm
Strong understanding of New Zealand accounting and taxation principles
Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to adapt communication style for different audiences
Excellent time management and organizational skills
A collaborative mindset with a willingness to support teammates and contribute to a positive team culture
Nice to Have
Experience using Xero
Experience using MYOB
Exposure to a variety of New Zealand business entities, including Individuals, Trusts, Partnerships, and Companies
Previous experience preparing annual compliance documentation for New Zealand clients
