About the Client
Our client is a Chartered Accounting and Advisory firm based in New Zealand that is growing its existing offshore team to support its bookkeeping and accounting operations. The firm partners with businesses across a range of industries, providing reliable financial management, compliance, and advisory services. This role plays a key part in ensuring accurate financial records, timely compliance, and efficient day-to-day support for the accounting team.

The Role
As a Bookkeeper, you'll provide bookkeeping and administrative support to the firm's accounting team, working closely with in-house Accountants to keep clients' financial records accurate and up to date. You'll manage day-to-day transaction processing, GST compliance, client invoicing, and Companies Office filings while helping ensure smooth operations across a variety of client engagements.

What You'll Do

• Coding transactions in Xero accurately and in a timely manner

• Preparing and processing GST Returns

• Entering new starts — setting up new employees within relevant systems

• Processing cessations — administering staff exits and off-boarding requirements

• Completing Companies Office filings (e.g. annual returns and related compliance updates)

• Preparing and issuing client invoices

• Setting up Xero for new clients, including chart of accounts and system configuration

• Providing general administrative support to the two Accountants in the office

What We're Looking For

• Previous bookkeeping experience, preferably within a New Zealand accounting environment

• Hands-on experience using Xero (Xero Certification is advantageous)

• Good understanding of New Zealand GST preparation and filing requirements

• Familiarity with Companies Office filing obligations

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy

• Excellent organizational and time management skills

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines

• A collaborative attitude and willingness to support a small, close-knit team

Nice to Have

• Xero Certification

• Previous experience supporting Chartered Accounting firms

• Experience setting up Xero organizations and chart of accounts

• Experience with client onboarding and administrative support within a professional services environment
