About the Client
Our client is one of the UK's leading accountancy and business advisory firms, supporting ambitious businesses, entrepreneurs, and private clients with accounting, tax, audit, and advisory services. They are continuing to grow their offshore team to support their cloud accounting operations and deliver high-quality financial services to a diverse portfolio of owner-managed businesses.
The Role
As Resource Manager, you'll oversee how our audit team and offshore consultants get deployed — matching people to client needs, forecasting future demand, and keeping utilisation and capacity data accurate across the department. You'll manage the Resource Coordinators, maintain the skills matrix, and act as the key point of contact for resolving scheduling conflicts before they become problems. It's a hands-on, high-visibility role at the centre of how the business runs day to day.
What You'll Do
Responsible for deployment of resources to match client demand/deadlines, location and skills of the team
Work closely with stakeholders and the wider coordinator team to find solutions for resourcing conflicts, monitor client information flow, and redistribute resource to reduce ‘idle time’
Maintain the resource reporting data to provide a clear picture to management on capacity
Has an understanding for headcount levels in their business unit to enable fair work allocation/portfolio building and feed into wider recruitment/promotion needs
Monitor and manage utilisation levels across all grades. Ensuing planned over and underutilisation is challenged, flagged or escalated to relevant stakeholders
Update our resource planner for any new recruits and leavers, allocating/reallocating jobs and training based on skillsets and training needs
Ensure that processes implemented by the resourcing team are followed by all stakeholders within the business including holiday booking/study leave /non chargeable projects etc
Maintain an internal skills matrix and use this to allocate work accordingly
Work closely with our training manager and student support manager to allocate time out of the business for internal training courses, college and exams
Provide regular data driven insight to Senior audit resource manager/ key stakeholders on upcoming capacity, peaks and conflicts to help enable and drive business decisions
What We're Looking For
Can hold difficult conversations, challenge senior stakeholders and is resilient
Experience working with various different stakeholders
Can prioritise effectively with incredible time management
At least 3 years’ experience working as a resource manager, ideally supporting
Resourcing/scheduling needs for audit teams or otherwise in accountancy
A real team player, ready to jump in and support the team when needed
